Games Britannia

Tech Week is back!

Tech Week is a week-long festival of technology, gaming and computing. With a programme showcasing how the University is making a difference through real-world innovation, and a focus on looking at the impact of technology on the future econmy.

This year’s Games Britannia will be a little different as we join up with the National Videogaming Museum to celebrate Games Careers Week.

From 17th-25th June you can take part in a range of activities at the National Videogame Museum. Meet a developer, play in the interactive museum, participate in a facilitator led workshop and learn about the exciting career opportunities in the industry.

Date: 24th June, 2022

Time: 13:00-16:00

Location: Cantor Building, City Campus, SHU

In the afternoon join us on campus for a hands-on gaming workshop to see how those games you’ve played, come to life.

Suitable for Y10-13 students.

Let the fun commence! Students will be provided with a ‘base game’ that, with the help of the current students and academics, they can transform into a game about climate change! Development will be split into 3 sections- design, art and gameplay. What game elements do students want to add? What character is in the game? They’ll work in groups to discuss, plan and implement their ideas.

Please note the afternoon session is different to the morning and will need to be booked separately via

We work alongside wider university departments to ensure we provide the most consistent and comprehensive support for schools and colleges.
