Festival Logistics & FAQs

IMA Festival 2022: Logistics

How much does the festival cost?

The festival is free to attend, as are all the activities and talks! However, we will not be able to provide lunch or free parking, and more detailed information on this is below.

Where is the festival located?

The festival will be held over both days in the Charles Street Building at the City Campus of Sheffield Hallam University.

Sheffield City Centre

Is there any parking?

Unfortunately, as we are a city-based university, we are not able to provide free parking. Please visit the section of our website here which outlines parking options. Please be aware that the car parks do have height restrictions so check these if travelling via minibus. The nearest open air car parks are on Sidney Street or Matilda Street.

Where can coaches drop off?

For those of you arriving by coach, we recommend that you drop off either at the bus stop on Arundel gate opposite the Novotel, or outside our student’s union building (The Hubs) on Brown Street. Please be aware that coaches can not stay at these places they are just drop off points. We recommend coaches to park up in the lay-bys off Sheffield Parkway.

What should I do on arrival?

Please make your way into the Charles Street Building where you will be greeted by our student ambassadors in purple t-shirts and they will direct you to the registration desk.

Will there be food for the schools & colleges?

We are unfortunately not able to provide free food or drink for students or teachers. We recommend that students bring packed lunches and there will be places to sit and eat these. The café within the Charles Street building will be open serving drinks and snacks. There is also a Tesco and Sainsbury’s close by, as well as the shops and outlets in the city centre.

What to do if any of your students have accessibility needs

Please get in contact with the Student Recruitment Engagement Team at sclo@shu.ac.uk and we will be happy to support.

Key Documents

  • Conduct agreement- all schools must fill this in and send back to sclo@shu.ac.uk before the festival to confirm their place
  • Risk Assessment- here is our risk assessment for the Festival of Mathematics event (coming soon)
  • Photo Permission Form- we are unable to accept school/college specific photo permission forms and would require one for each student of the form linked here, these can be sent back prior to the event or brought on the day.
  • City Campus Map

We work alongside wider university departments to ensure we provide the most consistent and comprehensive support for schools and colleges.
