During this session students will work on the following question, introduced at the beginning of the session…

Two friends stand on the edge of a cliff 100m high with two snooker balls A and B. The two snooker balls are at exactly the same height from ground level. Snooker ball A is dropped from the edge of the cliff and snooker ball B is pushed horizontally off the cliff with velocity 20 m/s. Which snooker ball hits the ground first?

Content: 1. Practise algebraic skills, 2. Introducing concept of splitting motion into 2 directions, 3. Problem solving – deciding on parameter values, 4. Questions to consider after the workshop.
