Financial Trading Competitions 2026/27

We’re delighted to offer Financial Trading Competitions in the 2026/27 academic year for students studying Level 3 qualifications.

This immersive, hands-on experience introduces students to the fundamentals of financial trading while developing teamwork, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.

What’s Involved

Give your students a unique insight into the world of financial markets through the Sheffield Business School Financial Trading Competition, hosted in our new state-of-the-art Bloomberg Suite. 

Financial Trading Competitions at Sheffield Hallam University’s City Campus offer insight into the range of courses on offer at Sheffield Business School, including Accounting and Finance, Banking, Economics and Financial Trading.

Students will gain an overview of financial markets and key trading terminology, then test their knowledge working directly on Bloomberg Terminals and CME Platform applying real-world tools used by industry professionals. Students will design and execute trades in a competitive environment.

This outreach activity is ideal for Year 12 and Year 13 students interested in Finance, Economics, Business, or career pathways in the financial sector, offering an engaging and authentic university-level experience.

No advance preparation is necessary as all resources are provided.

Our Financial Trading Competitions run from 10:00–14:15. We recommend arriving from 9:45 for a prompt start.

Travel  

We recommend planning your travel arrangements in advance. As a city-centre university, we do not have on-site parking available; however, there are nearby privately owned car parks that we can direct you to. 

For environmental reasons, and as we are conveniently located next to Sheffield train station and the Sheffield bus interchange, we encourage travel by public transport whenever possible.
